Intellectual Biography

Growing up as a first-born American, I am given an opportunity that most back home in India are not given, going to college. Even Though I have faced several challenges of balance between my Indian and American roots. In Indian culture, it is common for grandparents to live with you, so getting into pre-med and the love for science comes from my grandmother. My grandma had many health issues which we have had many amazing doctors help her out with, but as I saw the doctors help her it opened my eyes to what career I want to be a part of.

In addition to my pre-med focus, I also have gained an interest in business. I would love to minor in business administration. I already have experience running my family business, 2020 Driving School. Besides helping run my family business, I would say community involvement is a very important part of my life. I volunteer at homeless shelters, clinics, and local businesses. Volunteering has connected me to society around and it also allowed me to connect with people from around the world with different cultures. Also, I am a big traveler, so in the future, I would love to study abroad to learn more about other cultures.

Furthermore, some reasons that I wanted to go to college are to build solid personal relationships and have basic life skills. Due to covid-19, I had virtual classes in high school which affected my socialization with my peers.

I interviewed a peer,  Eliza, and we have similar high school experiences regarding virtual classes. Both of us agreed on not having an interest in English courses, but we love to read books that are not assigned by professors. Being a commuter to college I still get less socialization than Eliza because she lives on campus.
